Aah, August! Some call it the dog days of summer, but it’s always better at the beach!

Local Floridians will tell you the secret for enjoying this warmest of our months: either be in the water, or in the air conditioning! The Gulf of Mexico water is always refreshing and our two pools at Alden Suites Beachfront Resort are ready to cool you right off!

We’ve collected some fun activities for you and the family to enjoy your stay in St. Pete Beach this month: art museums, baseball, a 5K, and a reggae show are just a few of the great St. Pete Beach things to do in August.

Cult Classics at the Dali

August 2

The Dali’s can’t-miss summer celebration – Cult Classics – is back and better than ever. Grab your lawn chair and enjoy free flicks, local food truck fare, and cold craft brews. Visit the Dali tonight at 7 pm to see Bruce Willis in the iconic film Die Hard!

Saturdays in August

Make sure to check out the brand-new Mize Gallery in St. Pete. It’s owned by Chad Mize, previously the proprietor of Blue Lucy and creator of the “London Paris Tokyo St Pete” T-shirt.   The gallery showcases a variety of local artists, starting this month with a funky, fruity exhibition featuring 30 local and national artists. Each artist showcases their unique take on fruit in this fun show, open every Saturday.

Steel Pulse at Jannus Live

St. Pete Beach 5k Series

August 17

Soak in the last rays of the day during this 5k race on St. Pete Beach. Whether you run or walk it, all levels are welcome to participate in this fun chip-timed 5k run. The after race party for all participants include a free buffet provided by Hurricane Restaurant, a live DJ, adult beverages, soda and water and a spectacular sunset. The run starts at Hurricane Restaurant with the course along the beach. Free kids run is at 6:30 p.m. and the 5k starts at 7 p.m. Registration is $35.

  1. I am arriving on Saturday for a one week stay… so far it seems as tho the red tide has stayed away from St. Pete…. am I right? 🙂
