March 9: Machu Peachu Release Celebration

Celebrate Mastry’s Brewing Co.’s newest release, March 9 from 2-9pm. The rustic and ancient corn beer, known as Chicha de Jora, was once a sacred drink of the Incas. It is still widely consumed in the Andean highlands and home-brewed by the locals.
Today, Mastry’s has kept up with tradition, with a post-modern approach, by using bloody butcher corn, along with mixed fermentation, to recreate this sacred beer, while adding our own twist of re-fermentation on roasted peaches. Machu Peachu is funky, sweet and tart. With soft flavors and aroma from the peaches, and sourness brought on from fermentation, this beer is sure to delight the palate.

Hotspots for Art Lovers in St. Petersburg, Florida

From incredible street murals to museums filled with works from the greats, there’s no shortage of beautiful art to behold in St. Pete. Want to see some gorgeous sights besides the ocean? Check out these must-do attractions for lovers of all kinds of art!

Morean Arts Center

American artist Dale Chihuly is one of the most renowned glass artists working today. The Morean Arts Center boasts his first permanent collection in a building designed specifically for his art. Get lost in a swirl of classy glass sculptures like colorful beach ball-sized spheres inspired by Japanese fishing floats, a delicate and dynamic forest of glass, a cascading chandelier and jumbo blooms gazed at from below through glass. Before you leave, make sure to pop into the Morean Class Studio and Hotshop to see resident artists creating glass art right in front of your eyes!

Imagine Art Center

If you love glass art, St. Petersburg is the place for you. In addition to Morean Arts Center, we are privileged to have the Imagine Museum. Featuring preeminent works from the American Studio Glass Movement and an extraordinary selection of contemporary glass sculptures from around the world. Imagine Museum has over 500 significant pieces of glass works on display from their 1500-piece collection. The Museum hosts multiple events, tours and educational programs designed to inform, inspire and uplift all who visit.  Interactive spatial computing opportunities (augmented reality and virtual reality) are part of the memorable visual experience offered. The gallery exhibitions change throughout the year to expose the viewer to new artists and new works from the collection.

Salvador Dalí Museum

When an art-collecting couple sought a home for their droves of Daliana back in the 1970s, St. Pete stepped up and built the Salvador Dali Museum. The building that houses 96 of the Spanish surrealist’s oil paintings (as well as original drawings, illustrations, prints, sculptures, photos, videos and archival documents) is as much of a work of art as the pieces inside it. Enter the massive wavelike bubble made from more than a thousand triangular pieces of glass which envelops 18-inch thick hurricane-proof concrete exterior walls and enjoy an afternoon perusing the gigantic masterworks of the artist who’s as famous for his trippy dreamscapes and melting clocks as he is for his kooky signature curlicued mustache. Don’t forget to take a selfie in the Bubble Mirror!

Museum of Fine Arts

If you’re looking for your fix of fine artists, from the classic to the contemporary, look no further! The Museum of Fine Arts holds pieces spanning 4,500 years of civilization from antiquity to the present—the only comprehensive art collection of its kind on Florida’s west coast. From a legendary permanent collection to compelling traveling exhibitions, the MFA is ready to inspire with diverse and ever-changing opportunities to experience art.

The Duncan McClellan Gallery

The Duncan McClellan Galleryhttps://dmglass.com/, located in St. Petersburg Florida, features rotating exhibitions showcasing national and internationally recognized glass artists. With 3,000 square feet of gallery spaces and 5,000 square feet of outdoor courtyards and lushly planted sculpture gardens, the grounds are a sought after event and meeting place for glass artists, visiting dignitaries, and the community.

The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art

The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art opened in April 2018 and transports visitors through the rich and diverse heritage of the American West. Its more than 400 works of art evoke the spirit of a wide-open frontier and the beauty of life in the wild. The museum engages the community through a variety of programs and educational opportunities that bring our history and culture to life.

Central Arts District

In recent years, hundreds of murals have popped up on buildings in the Central Arts District in downtown St. Pete. From interlocking rainbows to a shark that bares its jaws at passersby to a dinosaur in an AARP-sponsored mural, these murals range from whimsical to wild and since 2015, the annual Shine St. Petersburg Mural Festival has been held to celebrate the popular art form. Get a sneak peek of these gigantic public works by browsing the neighborhood on your own or take the walking mural tour to hear the stories behind their creation. In St. Pete, you don’t have to shun the sun to soak up incredible art!

St. Pete also hosts frequent art celebrations like the St. Pete Second Saturday Artwalk and the twice-monthly Gulfport Art Walk. No matter where you choose to travel, let the Sunshine City feed your right brain with its diverse selection of vibrant and surprising art.
